The ShareName called "SearchIndex" has the wrong path (I downloaded the latest version of the scripts today (7th October 2012) it is currently is :-
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Data\Office Server\Applications
It should be :-
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\15.0\Data\Office Server\Applications
This causes search gather to fail as SP_SearchService account does not have access to the previous path so get a failure "The gatherer service cannot be initialized. Details: The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible. Free up space on the drive or verify that you have write permission on the Temp folder."

OK, so I'm just catching up on this now (sorry) and was surprised to find that, yes, DefaultIndexLocation is no longer supported. I had actually moved that section of code to after the search service application creation/configuration but I might remove it altogether now.
